It’s official: President Obama will travel to Copenhagen to support Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Olympics. Chicago is notorious for being divided when it comes certain topics – baseball, for one - and when it comes to the 2016 Games, the city has proven to be just as torn.

The Olympics will no doubt create much needed jobs  for Chicagoans and anyone who travels to the city for a shot at employment with the 2016 Games. While most Americans won’t disagree with this fact, many are concerned with whether President Obama should be weighing in as heavily as he is.

We’ve found one statistic (albeit, from June) that says the 2016 Olympics will potentially create 315,000 jobs and generate $20 billion in new economic activity throughout the state.

The 2016 Olympics host city will be announced this Friday, Oct. 2. If Chicago wins, we will be sure to post Olympics-related job information and track employment stats as they become available.
